Stephen Pashko

Stephen Pashko has been a Jewish educator for over 25 years. Steve currently teaches at JQuest at Keneseth Israel Synagogue in Cheltenham, PA.

 

Prior to teaching at at JQuest, Steve taught Hebrew and Jewish Religious studies at Har Zion Temple and Congregation Kol Ami for over 12 years. Steve also served as an advisor for BBYO , as well as USY .

 

Steve Graduated from Beth Jacob Hebrew Day School. He also attended Hebrew School and became a Bar Mitzvah at the West Oak Lane Jewish Community Center in Philadelphia, PA. He continued his Jewish Education at Cyrus Adler High School.

After graduation, Steve attended Temple University .He received a BA degree in communications. While at Temple, Steve took courses in Hebrew and Jewish philosophy.

Steve received his teaching certification from Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education (today known as Jewish Venture) He also took Hebrew Ulpon courses as well as classes in Jewish History and Ethics at Gratz College.

 

Steve started tutoring students privately in their homes when he was asked by a friend to tutor their son as an alternative to attending a congregational religious school. Word quickly spread and Steve started receiving multiple requests for Bar Mitzvah tutoring from families who were not affiliated with a synagogue but wanted

their child to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Steve believes that every Jewish child should be able experience the joy of becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah regardless of synagogue membership.

 

Steve has taught students at all ages and levels of Hebrew. His proven techniques teach give students the ability to read Hebrew as opposed to memorization. Steve caters the lessons to each student’s interests and learning style. He works closely with families to develop a meaningful service for every student. In addition to

teaching students how to read Hebrew, Steve also reviews the meaning of the prayers and the Torah portion with his students. He also teaches about the Jewish holidays and key concepts such Emet vi Tzedek (truth and Righteousness) Tikun Olam (Repairing the World) Niveem (prophets) and Aliyah (lifting up)
